1. Tell me about yourself. Where do you live? What do you do? How old are you?
I live in Charleston, I am a community mental health professional and ATV safety Instructor - among other outdoor/wilderness instuction and adventure touring. I am 42.

2. Why are you reading this blog? Did you happen upon it during a Google search? Are you interested in West Virginia news and issues? Do you know me and feel obligated to read my blog?
Searching 'mountain top removel, and found it, started reading and liked the site, I don't know you, I don't think so anyway. I have always been involved in enviornmental issues and off-road and wilderness activities through CAG, OVEC, and other grass roots groups.

3. What online groups and communities do you belong to? Do you use Facebook, Myspace or Flickr? Facebook

4. How do you prefer to read blogs: via online, e-mail digest, RSS feed, etc.? new, don't know other modalities other than web

5. Which posts/categories on Mountain State Matters have you enjoyed the most?
Just reading them now, disagree with you on drug testing - but like the anti MTR

6. What can I improve about the website that would make it more interesting/prettier/easier to navigate?

7. Anything else?

1. I am a 27-year-old transplant from Chicago to West Virginia. I work for a non-profit.

2. I read this blog because you feature some interesting stories about my state, which I learn about through your Gchat away messages. However, I never realized it was YOUR blog until this latest post, which is also a strong incentive to read it (blogs of my friends are my favorites).

3. I belong to Facebook.

4. RSS feed and online (I now subscribe to your blog through Google Reader).

5. I've sincerely enjoyed all of them.

6. I am satisfied so far.

1. Tell me about yourself. 23-year-old graduate journalism student from Indianapolis, currently living in Chicago

2. Why are you reading this blog? I am in your class, but I have found your blog interesting and like your coverage.

3. What online groups and communities do you belong to? I use Facebook mainly to keep in touch with friends in other parts of the country.

4. How do you prefer to read blogs: online and RSS feed

5. Which posts/categories on Mountain State Matters have you enjoyed the most? I like the tidbits about topics native to WV, i.e. ramps! Also, your analysis of news related to WV, like Dick Cheney.

6. What can I improve about the website that would make it more interesting/prettier/easier to navigate? I like the idea about geotagging photos -- give people familiar and unfamiliar with WV an idea of where they're reading about.

2. word of mouth.

3. I’m on facebook, I use digg.com, last.fm, twitter sometimes. Not that active in any one online community. I comment on a blog from time to time though.

4. on the actual webpage is usually preferred. I like reading stuff through RSS though.

5. I like the mine coverage, its something you stick too and cover well. I also really like the west virginia color posts, like the one about moonshine.

6. Tighten up the header of the site, pick like one pretty wv picture

7. Nope

1. Hi! I'm Erin, I live in Chicago, I'm in j-school and I'm 25.

2. I know you, but I read your blog because it's great.

3. Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn, a few others. But those are the ones I use.

4. Lots of Google Blog searches for specific topics. Also RSS feed. I'm not a big fan of email newsletters because they clog the inbox.

5. Which posts/categories on Mountain State Matters have you enjoyed the most?
5. I like your posts about mining. Also the random tidbits, like about moonshine and whitewater rafting. And your video was great. You chose a really good topic and an excellent person to interview.

6. Hmm... Maybe the blue color on the sidebars could be different. Maybe a light green? Not really sure about that, though. And I like ebcooper's idea about adding more WV photos. Something else that could be cool would be geotagging your posts if they're about a specific part of WV, and then including a map so readers know where all these places are. (I'm not too familiar with West Virginia geography!)

I realize I didn't really say enough about myself... I'm a master's student in humanities on the cusp of graduating. I'm not really sure what I'll be doing next. Maybe working in publishing, definitely reading, drawing, and going to the year-round farmers market in Clark Park in West Philly.

1. Tell me about yourself. Where do you live? What do you do? How old are you?

I live in Chicago right now, but I'm moving back to Philadelphia in a couple of weeks. I'm originally from New Jersey. I turned 24 a few months ago.

2. Why are you reading this blog? Did you happen upon it during a Google search? Are you interested in West Virginia news and issues? Do you know me and feel obligated to read my blog?

While I do know you, I'm interested in the things you care about, and reading the blog lets me learn more about those things.

3. What online groups and communities do you belong to? Do you use Facebook, Myspace or Flickr?

I belong to Facebook, and I read (and sometimes partake in discussion on) a LiveJournal page about pop music, diabetes, and other miscellany fairly frequently.

4. How do you prefer to read blogs: via online, e-mail digest, RSS feed, etc.?

I prefer to read blogs online.

5. Which posts/categories on Mountain State Matters have you enjoyed the most?

The hot dog post was my favorite. I hope that doesn't make me shallow.

6. What can I improve about the website that would make it more interesting/prettier/easier to navigate?

The white background is a little bright and spare, in a clinical way. Maybe beige would be softer on the eyes? Also, the photos at the top of the blog, and often those in the posts themselves, are amazing... more photos?

1) I live in Itmann West Virgina and work as an Americorps VISTA worker. I am the Monitoring Program Coordinator for the Upper Guyandotte Watershed Association and work measuring the quality of local streams. I am twenty-four years young.

2) I was reading this blog because you sent out the e-mail so I thought I'd poke around. It seemed like a pretty good source of interesting West Virginia news and I've checked it a couple times casually since.

3) Facebook, myspace, digg, jambase and twitter.

4) I prefer reading blogs online.

5) I like the slaw mapping post, classic really. I enjoyed the one about sasquatch and the post about clean coal. Also the post about moonshine struck a soft spot in my heart.

6) Hmmm... that's difficult. I suppose having each category listed for whatever month you currently have open may help. For example, if I were to click on April 2008 there would be a similar column to the recent posts column that displays all posts from April. I thought it was a pretty blogalicious blog though.

7) Keep up the good work sweetheart!
